Patan Hospital planned a campus expansion for a new 156 bed maternity addition, a seperate birthing center, parking garage, street, frontage retail, and cafe. Vacated existing space in the main inpatient tower, wards where morthers are laboring in the corridors due to lack of space are yeilded to medical patients. Natural day lighting and ventilation is incorporated in atria spaces and a south facing courtyard is used by families for a Nepalese tradition of oiling newborns in the sun.
